With regard to introductory stuff, we hear something from Nishio. So, I’ll pin point things about the episode I want to talk about instead. I won’t go into everything, because I sort of already did in the previous review I did. From here on, deviations from the manga (flow-wise) is brought about by previous deviations, and again it doesn’t do any damage to the plot or the characters. Then, after spoiling everyone about the existence of white-haired!Kaneki, the opening sequence ends and we return to Kaneki lamenting over the package Yoshimura gave him. Touka’s angry because Kaneki, just like most humans, labeled ghouls as monsters with little afterthought.Īfter Touka throws the old ghoul’s severed head at Kaneki, it cuts into the opening song.
We get back to Touka and Kaneki’s little confrontation, with Touka simultaneously force-feeding and beating the crap out of Kaneki. If they had done it subtly, then at least I wouldn’t feel like I missed out on much.
In any case, the censored parts were a real let down. If they aren’t, however, then they could’ve directed things differently instead. I am guessing they’re planning an uncensored DVD release or something because they actually made an effort to animate this. To be fair, I guess it was either this or they cut out the entire beating-Nishio-to-a-bloody-pulp scene which is a definite no as well. The way they did it, they might as well have had in big, block letters on the screen. The previous episode was a little more subtle. It’s really distracting! I wish that if they were going to censor the gore, that they did it with a little more subtlety. Whoever owns that van is in for one hell of a clean-up Aaaaand I spy people who aren’t supposed to be there unless they’re going to make it to the Aogiri Arc~ We see the opening sequence for the first time. (aka me blabbing about the Aogiri Arc again) Manga Scans: Twisted Hel Scans (chapter 9) Screencaps: Taken from DameDesuYo release (I had to redo the inversion though) Because this is a review of Tokyo Ghoul, beware of gore and violence.
